Hey guys. ive been wanting to get back into drawing and animation again and i need help finding my style i want to work on. i just like so many but i want something that's recognizable as me and something that i like. im scared ill look like a copycat if i say my work is "inspired by X" all the time ya know? Its a deep rooted philosophical issue right now. Like, should i care if people thing im some sort of copycat wanabe if i find something i want to impersonate or should i try and go 100% original (this is a lot harder than most people realize) where do i go? where do i start. i know i have potential bit i need some a little kickstart to get up and going. Yeah, I'm a protogen. I want a place to share my creative works. This seems like the right place. My current focus is music but I should get better at other mediums I can tell I have potential in but never work on often enough. Thanks for reading.

And a little tip from me regarding if you ever sketch out your future art on paper.
I would recommend Pixler (specifically Pixler E), cause with it you could take your editing to the next level. Well, that's how I see it.
You can take this into consideration or not, it doesn't really matter to me.

What helped me get my own style is actually taking inspiration from other people. But first you should just doodle without looking at other artists work before you take inspiration from others.

the first step is to start, friend :) just draw some lines, experiment with different things, practice what you're bad at, and do it everyday (or as much as possible). Eventually you will start to see improvement and a clear identity in your work. Make sure to start small too and actually get things done. Michelangelo didn't pick up a paintbrush for the first time and paint the sistine chapel.
Thanks bunches. Thats a very good idea. work on what im bad at. Ive been trying for something that is easy for me and it might cram me into a super narrow hole of this one exact thing im good at. Need to flex all my musces. This sounds corny, but the shia lebouf meme "just do it" its more important than what people realize. You are right and thanks bunches. ♥

I know how you feel bud. Most of my art is based on models made by other people.
I don't really worry about what other people think, whether they think I'm a copycat or not.
They just don't have the talent to recreate something is what I think. But practicing with ALL kinds of artwork could help you come up with your own art style. You could also just doodle every once in a while and go all out. Just go crazy, and you might find something worth drawing again. You could also take say your friend's art style and change it up a little. There are a lot of ways to find your own distinct art style! But if you need any extra guidance, I could help you.
